Accommodation

CIT does not have its own campus accommodation, though there are a number of apartment complexes adjacent to the main Bishopstown campus of the Institute, designed specifically for the student market. The Accommodation Office assists students in finding a suitable place to live. The service provides information and guidance to students on the accommodation most appropriate to their needs.

While every effort is made to facilitate students seeking accommodation, the Institute is not involved in any agreement/contracts entered into between students and landlords.

TYPES OF ACCOMMODATION

There are three main types of accommodation to choose from:

1.Lodgings/Self Catering Lodgings

2. Shared Houses/Flats

3. Student Apartments/Hostels

The Accommodation Office provides a register of lodgings for the academic year. This register is updated throughout the year. Many houses are within walking distance of the college.

LODGINGS:

Where a student receives breakfast, evening meal and light supper.

SELF CATERING LODGINGS

Where a student lives with a family but has use of the kitchen to cook meals.

SHARED HOUSES/FLATS

A list of houses/rooms in houses is available throughout the year and this updated regularly and especially during the summer months. As there is a high demand for this type of accommodation, it is advisable to contact the Accommodation Office regularly for an updated list.

STUDENT APARTMENTS

There are a large number of student apartments in close proximity to the Institute. It is advisable to look into this option early in the intended Academic Year. Bookings should be made directly to the apartments. Payment is normally made in two instalments. Students are advised to look at apartments before booking and to read leases carefully before signing them.

The most popular ways of finding accommodation are

• CIT Accommodation Office

• Internet

 • Auctioneers

 • Word of mouth

 • Notice boards

 • Shop windows

• Flat finding agencies

• Newspapers

CIT offers a limited number of scholarships of 25% off the fee structure.  You will automatically be considered for scholarship once your application is received.  This scholarship is only applicable to self-funded students and not students already in receipt of scholarship or funding.

Students presenting with the equivalent of 70% or higher in their most recent set of examinations prior to entering CIT are eligible for a €1,000 scholarship on the tuition fee per year of study.

Government of Ireland International Scholarships

This scholarship is co-funded by the Irish Government and comprises a full tuition waiver plus a stipend of €10,000 to cover living expenses for one year.

The Government of Ireland International Scholarships are targeted at international students who have the potential to be future leaders in their field and who are committed to making a difference in the world.  The programme supports one year’s study by talented international students at Irish higher education institutions.
