JCU Singapore (registered as James Cook Australia, Institute of Higher Learning in Singapore) is fully owned by James Cook University Australia, the leading tropical research university in Australia.

The university established the company in Singapore in 2003 as part its expressed intent of internationalising its activities and in pursuit of its vision of “A brighter future for life in the tropics, world-wide”.

The University offers a suite of university level programs at the JCU Singapore campus, specifically in psychology, business, marketing, tourism, information technology, environmental science and so on. All courses are registered with The Council for Private Education and the University is EduTrust certified.

The campuses provide with access to a full range of facilities and services to support their learning. Facilities include lecture and seminar rooms, a fully equipped library, computer laboratories, an onsite bistro and access to a various sporting facilities.

JCU Singapore fully adapts the Australian curriculum and all degree certification is awarded from James Cook University Australia.  

Applicants of non-English speaking backgrounds must meet the English language proficiency of IELTS

Entry requirements FOR UNDERGRADUATE COURSES

Entrance requirements for the Singapore campus of James Cook University differ according to the applicant desired course of study but in general applicants must have satisfactorily completed 12 years of schooling.

For undergraduate studies, students from all Indian school boards should have scored 65-70 % in IT, 60-65 % in Business and 60-65 % in psychology.

Entry requirements FOR POSTGRADUATE COURSES

 The minimum entry level requirement for a postgraduate coursework degree at JCU is successful completion of study equivalent to an Australian undergraduate Bachelor award.

DOCTORAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must demonstrate the capacity to undertake research at the Doctoral level by the attainment of at least one of the following:

•             A Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Honours in a degree program that included a total of at least a semester of supervised project work, the results of which contributed to the Honours grade;

•             A postgraduate qualification which included: (a) supervised research component(s) of at least one semester or equivalent and resulted in the production of output(s) graded at the equivalent of Distinction or better, and (b) at least one research methods subject;

•             A Research Masters degree, where at least two thirds of the degree consisted of a supervised research component and resulted in the production of a thesis or equivalent;

•             A combination of qualifications, research training and experience, considered equivalent to the above and deemed appropriate by the university, e.g., senior authorship of at least one peer-reviewed publication plus completion of an appropriate research methods subject.

Note: Candidates who do not meet any of the above may apply for a higher degree pathway offered in the form of the Graduate Certificate of Research Methods and the Graduate Diploma of Research Methods.
