HOUSING GUARANTEE

Residence is guaranteed for all new full-time students entering their first year of a post-secondary program for the first time, provided that they have indicated their interest in residence by completing the university's common residence application (MyRes) by March 31, and have received and accepted an offer of admission by June 1.

Residences

Each college at the University of Toronto operates its own set of residence halls and dining halls clustered in a different area of the campus.

Innis, New, St. Michael's, Trinity, University, Victoria, and Woodsworth colleges reserve most of their dormitories for their undergraduate students within the Faculty of Arts and Science, while setting a portion available to students from the professional and postgraduate faculties

Massey College is exclusively for graduate students, while Knox and Wycliffe Colleges mainly house graduate theology students.

Annesley Hall of Victoria College, a National Historic Site, was the first university residence for women in Canada.

As campus residences accommodate just 6,400 students in all, the university guarantees housing only for undergraduates in their first year of study, while most upper-year and graduate students reside off-campus.

U of T Residence descriptions

Each campus has its own distinct residential communities and styles of residential living.

•           U of T St. George residents live in one of the seven colleges, in Chestnut Residence, or in Student Family Housing.

•           U of T Mississauga has more than 1,500 students living in residence, and offers three different housing options: residence halls, townhouses or apartments.

•           U of T Scarborough residents live less than a two minute walk from academic buildings and the accommodations are either townhouses or apartment suites.

Each of the  three campuses has a student housing office where you can get information about living on- and off-campus.

Off-campus housing

Living off campus is a great way to get to live independently and discover the unique tapestry of the many neighbourhoods in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

There are various types of off-campus accommodations available to you in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Homestay

There are a wide variety of homestay options available, and partners do their best to match students and hosts according to their interests and preferences. Homestay hosts include single people, young couples with children and pets, and older couples. All homestay accommodations have been inspected, and all adults in the home have completed a required criminal reference check.

Scholarships & Financial Aid

All secondary school applicants are considered automatically for admission scholarships based on their academic performance. U of T offers  outstanding incoming students approximately 4,400 admission scholarships that total nearly $15 million. Scholarship offers are generally sent at the same time as our offers of admission.
