Fraser International College (FIC) is located in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada and was opened in September 2006 . It  is a modern and dynamic educational institution committed to provide quality educational programs and support services in an environment that encourages you to achieve excellence in your studies.

It is a private educational business that operates under an agreement with Simon Fraser University. Courses at FIC are designed in consultation with faculty and departments at SFU, which allows for an oversight of course material and quality.

The programs at FIC are designed to ease international student transition to study at a major Canadian research university, by offering small class sizes and extensive support for international students. FIC has been in partnership with SFU for over ten years. 50% of international students at SFU come through the highly successful FIC pathway.

Once you have successfully completed your FIC studies, you will be prepared for entry into your program at SFU.

        PG IELTS – 6.5 band with no band less than 6.0

•       UG IELTS – 6.0 band with no band less than 5.5

Admission requirements

Entry into UTP Stage II generally requires the successful completion of Year 12 of secondary school or its equivalent.

Senior Secondary School (10 + 2) with 60% average in 4 academic subjects

Computing Science

Senior Secondary School (10 + 2) with 60% average in 4 academic subjects including Math minimum 65% + 1 science subject or 65% average in 4 academic science stream subjects including Math minimum 50%

Engineering Science; Environment (Science)

Senior Secondary School (10 + 2) with 65% average in 4 academic subjects including Math minimum 70% + 2 science subjects

Pre Master's Programs

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Engineering Science or a related field with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (on a scale of 0.0-4.33) or equivalent • IELTS 6.5 (with no band below 6.0) or equivalent

 

Direct pathway into year two of Simon Fraser University undergraduate degrees. FIC University Transfer Program II courses are equivalent to Simon Fraser University's first year bachelor degree.

Accommodation:

FIC offers a range of accommodation options to suit your needs. These include on-campus accommodation, home stay and off-campus accommodation.

Students under 19 must be in accommodation acceptable to their parents and FIC.

SFU Residences (on-campus accommodation)

FIC students may choose to live in SFU residences at the Burnaby campus, just a short walk from your classes. The residences feature extra long beds, shared TVs, microwaves in common rooms, and wiring for high speed Internet access. The residences include a dining hall and a meal plan that is available for the entire residence community. Life at the centre of it all, barbeque nights, movie nights and “rez” challenges are just some of the regular activities that make residence fun!

Home stay

For many students, the opportunity to stay with a Canadian family, off-campus and in the community, offers a special appeal. As a home stay student, you will have the chance to be a part of the family, taking part in family activities and celebrating special occasions.

All families are within commuting distance of SFU. Homestay includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. Your homestay package may be upgraded to include high speed internet access or a private bathroom.

Off-campus accommodation

A wide range of off-campus accommodation including hostels, boarding houses, private rentals and shared accommodation is available to FIC students.

 

Scholarship For International Students

•       FIC Academic Merit Scholarship:is awarded to the top two performing students at FIC every semester, and is equal to the cost of tuition for one academic semester.

•       SFU Transfer Scholarships:are available to FIC students when they transfer to SFU from Stage II with a GPA of 3.7 or above (scholarship GPA requirements subject to change)."

Fees range from 15,221 to 26,010 CAD per year

COST OF LIVING

As well as your tuition fees, you will need between C$13,000 and C$15,000 to meet your expenses each year. These include accommodation, meals, transport, utilities, equipment, textbooks, recreation and entertainment. Certain subjects will be charged a mandatory book fee which is not included in the basic tuition fee.
