Northern College is a college of applied arts and technology in Northern Ontario.It  was established during the formation of Ontario’s college system in 1967.  More than 65 communities within North eastern Ontario are served by four campuses located in Timmins (Porcupine), Kirkland Lake, Moosonee, and Haileybury.

The college  focuses on providing practical, hands-on experiences. Faculty have excellent relationships with employers and networks of contacts that can help you land a job in your chosen field. Annual enrolment is approximately 1,500 full-time students. Annual part-time and continuing education enrolment exceeds 11,000 students.

Northern College is also home to the Haileybury School of Mines.

It  is dedicated to provide students quality education leading to career opportunities. Their small class sizes mean students have easy access to faculty, computers, labs and equipment, but their diverse program offerings and partnerships with other colleges and universities rivals that of larger institutions.

Programs are offered at the certificate, diploma, degree, pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship level, and many are offered through distance education.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

•             Certificate and Diploma studies: overall score of 6.0 must be achieved, with no individual Band score under 5.5.

•             Post Graduate levels of study: overall score of 6.5, with no individual band score under 5.5.

Timmins Campus Residence

 Only steps away from Porcupine Lake, the Timmins Campus Residence features a large, bright common kitchen with five cooking stations, laundry facilities, lounges with cable television and a games room. Living on campus gives you access to computer rooms and athletic facilities, sauna, ball courts and the Quill Lounge. Each room includes: phone, cable and internet connections, private four piece bathroom, bed, desk, chair, lamp, closet and drawers.

Haileybury Campus Residence

 The Haileybury Campus is home to a new privately owned and operated residence, located next to the scenic Rock Walk Park, just steps away from the main College building.

Homestay Program

 Northern College works with community members to provide a special housing service that matches students with a host or host family. Students have an opportunity to enjoy cultural, social, and recreational activities that are as varied as their hosts with the benefit of living in a supportive environment. Hosts vary from young families with children and pets, to couples with older children who no longer live at home, to single individuals. All hosts share an interest in helping students adjust to and learn about our way of life in northern Ontario.
