Wroclaw Medical University is an institution of higher medical education in Wroclaw, Poland, established in 1950. Since then, 16,068 medical doctors and 4,715 dentists have graduated. In 1958, the first open heart surgery in Poland was carried out by prof. Wiktor Bross at the Faculty of Medicine, who also in 1966 performed the first kidney transplant from a living donor. These achievements were significant in European medicine.

At present Wroclaw Medical University is an active centre of medical student education. The process of teaching is realised by a team of highly qualified specialists. The Medical University also performs a wide range of scientific activities and provides the whole region of Lower Silesia with highly specialised medical care.

The Wroclaw Medical University consists of 5 faculties: Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Public Health and Postgraduate Education. The Faculty of Medicine is the oldest and largest faculty of Wroclaw Medical University. 

A great number of prominent scientists have conducted research at the Faculty of Medicine. Altogether, 891 academic professors and teachers work at the Medical University and about 3,500 students continue their studies. There is a wide exchange of students and teaching staff within the framework of the Socrates/Erasmus programme of the European Union, especially with France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Netherlands and England.

Wroclaw Medical University admission requirements

Admission is based on high school marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, without entrance exam. Candidates are chosen by open competition on the basis of grades on the high school certificate from Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Also, prospective students must have international recognised English certificate.

•           Faculty of Medicine, Six-year Programme

The university has its own campus and offers rooms equipped to the highest standards. The University has its own dormitory and will offer you a one place in a double room on arrival  in the dorm "Jubilatka" at a monthly cost of 450 PLN (Polish zloty).

You can also apply for a one place in room for three persons, in the dorm "Blizniak" . Monthly cost is 340 PLN.

This prices includes the use of pillow, coverlet, cost of gas and electricity, refrigerator, washing machines, etc.
