Bialystok University of Technology (BUT) is the largest university in the north-eastern region of Poland. It is  a modern dynamically developing institution with more than 60 years of experience in educating scientists and technologists. BUT is a technology centre of the region. The  graduates are in demand in the labour markets of Poland and abroad.
BUT consists of seven faculties (Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, the faculty of Architecture, the faculty of Management and Faculty of Forestry) with more than 11,000 students and 680 academic teachers.
There is the Academic Sports Centre, Student Residence Halls, the Center for Modern Education, Academic Incubator of Enterpreneurship and INNO-EKO-TECH Centre on the territory of the main campus.

Access to the First-cycle Studies

Access to first-cycle studies, leading to the professional title of licencjat or inzynier (Engineer), as well as long-cycle studies, leading to a Master’s degree (magister or an equivalent degree), is open to holders of an upper secondary school certificate (Matura certificate) or an equivalent entitling the holder to enrol in such programs in Poland. Additional entrance examinations may be conducted by HEIs only if this is necessary to assess knowledge or skills that are not assessed by the Matura examination or the applicant holds an upper secondary school certificate obtained abroad.

Access to the Second-cycle Studies

Access to the second-cycle studies is open to holders of a licencjat or inzynier (Engineer) degree, a Master’s degree (magister or an equivalent degree) or the equivalent of the Polish higher education diploma entitling the holder to enrol in such programs in Poland.

Access to the Doctoral Programmes

Access to the doctoral programs is open to applicants who hold a Master’s degree (magister or an equivalent degree) or the equivalent of the Polish higher education diploma entitling the holder to enrol in such programs in Poland, and who meet the admission conditions laid down by the specific institution. While respecting such general admission requirements, each HEI may define its own additional admission conditions and procedures, including the number of places available to students, except in the medical fields of study (limited number of places).

Student Residence Halls provide reasonably priced and good standard accommodation for over 2000 students. Rooms are rented not only by Polish but also foreign students . Student Residence Halls is within few minutes’ walk to the main students’ facilities and to the city centre. The standard accommodation offers single or double rooms including bathrooms. Each floor has its own kitchen, laundry and drying room. All residents have cable access to Internet.

The Bialystok Technical University has a special Rector's Scholarship for graduate and undergraduate students having the best average grade scores. The scholarship is granted for outstanding academic performance and special achievements in science, sports, and art.

The tuition fees range from EUR 2000 to 6000 per year and depends on the study program


Depending on your personal situation, lifestyle and habits you may have different needs. In practice, you will need at least PLN 1500-2000 per month in order to cover the cost of decent accommodation, pay for the local transport, and even go out occasionally. This amount should cover the costs of rent, food, clothing, personal hygiene, local transport, study materials, telephone and other expenses – however, not the tuition fee.
