Kraków University of Economics or Cracow University of Economics (KUE or CUE ) is one of the five Polish public economics universities. CUE came into existence in 1925. It is the biggest university of economic sciences in Poland. Situated in Krakow, a leading academic center, it is proud of being ranked in the top schools of economics within the country.

During these 89 years of tradition and experience, the name and the profile of the university changed frequently but one thing remained unchanged - the quality of education, which has always been confirmed by national rankings and indexes. Nowadays, CUE ranks among Poland’s leading universities, being a significant educational and research centre. It consists of four faculties: Economics and International Relations, Finance, Commodity Science and Management.

Its 17-acre (69,000 m2) campus is in the vicinity of historical medieval Old Town of Kraków and easily accessible both on foot or by public transportation. In addition to the main campus in Kraków, the university has seven Remote Teaching Centers in the cities of the region.

Students interested in studying in English at Cracow University of Economics can choose from a number of alternatives such as short-term study opportunities or the full-degree programmes leading to Bachelor's or Master's degrees.

Specially designed programmes are provided for international students.  CUE  prioritizes foreign internships and training programmes, and maintains various contacts worldwide by sending lecturers and students to partner institutions abroad for scientific purposes. It maintains close contacts and cooperation with over 200 foreign universities as well as many international organizations and institutions, including companies.

At the moment, 23,500 students study here , and it becomes more popular as the number of applications of potential students increases every semester.

In addition to teaching, the University’s main focus is on scientific and research activities. Scientific research is conducted by researchers and professors in the fields of economics, and technical, biological, and chemical sciences. The University has a membership in various international networks and is involved in international research projects, including the EU's 5th and 6th Framework Programmes.

Students studying at Cracow University of Economics are responsible for securing their own housing for the semester or year. Students usually live in apartments near the CUE campus or within a 20 minute walk.

The university owns 2 student dormitories, located in the town. Students live in double or triple rooms, with shared bathroom and common kitchen. As the amount of places in dormitories is limited, the International Programmes Office offers assistance in finding private apartments through cooperation with few real estate agencies. It is possible to arrange the accommodation before coming to Poland or view few different places after arrival in Krakow.

The cost of living in Poland is much lower than in most EU countries. Students dormitory costs about 80 Euro. Private accommodation is a bit more expensive and its price depends if you rent the apartment on your own or share it with others.Past students have found affordable accommodation within a day or two of arrival to Cracow. Students can also secure housing prior to their arrival in Cracow by searching online for available housing units. CUE Accommodate Tutors are available for students who would like assistance with this process. Students should keep in mind that most housing units in Cracow offer washing machines, but dryers are less common. Instead, drying racks are used to air dry clothes.


There are a number of scholarships available within the limits defined in bilateral  agreements.

They are financed either by the Polish or the foreign partner’s government, often with the aim to enhance exchange within a specific field of study.

The amount of a scholarship depends on the type of study undertaken.

It is also advisable to check with local authorities if they have a scholarship programme that includes studies in Poland.

POLISH GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to international candidates on the basis of bilateral agreements. Monthly scholarship amounts to 900 PLN and it is supposed to cover the accommodation (dormitory) and living costs. Studies for scholarship holders are free of charge. Scholarships are funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and administered by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange. To apply for scholarship foreigners should submit suitable documents to the Polish Embassies and Consulates in their countries of residence.
