Massey University is a university based in ??lm?rst?n N?rth, N?w Z??l?nd, with significant campuses in ?lb?ny and Wellington.

Massey University is distinctive amongst New Zealand universities because of its ability to deliver research-led teaching and research training on three campuses in Auckland, Manawatu, and Wellington.

 Massey University has approximately 35,000 students, 17,000 of whom are extramural or distance-learning students, making it New Zealand's second largest university when not counting international students.

The student body has a high percentage of international students coming from over 100 countries.

It is the only university in New Zealand to offer courses on aviation, dispute resolution, veterinary medicine, and nanoscience.

Each campus plays host to a thriving student association with many varying activities across the them. This includes a radio station, a student magazine and student-organised political and cultural events.

Massey has strong links with industry and commerce contributing to economic development as exemplified by their  teaching and research in applied areas such as veterinary medicine, food technology, information sciences, engineering technology, agriculture, finance, marketing and accountancy.

All international students under the age of 18 must live in Massey approved homestay, designated caregiver accommodation or with their parents.

 Homestay accommodation is when a student lives with a local family in the family's home. Homestay is very popular for international students and short course participants because this environment gives them the opportunity to practice English and learn about New Zealand culture in a safe and supportive environment.


Undergraduate scholarships

Massey University Creative Arts International Excellence Scholarship

This is open to students who have demonstrated academic excellence in Creative Arts subjects while studying in New Zealand or abroad. The Scholarship is tenable in any of the following College of Creative Arts programmes:

1.            Bachelor of Design (Hons)

2.            Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons)

3.            Bachelor of Ma¯ori Visual Arts

4.            Bachelor of Creative Media Production

5.            Bachelor of Commercial Music

Each Scholarship is valued at NZD $20,000 for a 4-year degree or NZD $15,000 for a 3-year degree.

Massey Business School International Student Study Awards (both Undergraduate and Postgraduate)

The Massey Business School International Student Study Award (“the Award”) is for top-achieving new international students enrolling in full-time business programmes at either the Palmerston North or Wellington Campuses at Massey University.

The award will be based on Academic merit at the discretion of the selection committee. The award may be awarded annually, and will be to the value of $5,000 per 120 credits enrolled, for up to the total credit value of the programme:

•             Undergraduate Programme maximum $15,000

•             Postgraduate Programme maximum $10,000

Postgraduate scholarships

Massey University Doctoral Scholarship

Doctoral Scholarships are awarded through the colleges, and scholarship applicants need to contact the relevant postgraduate coordinator in the college.

New Zealand International Doctoral Research Scholarships (NZIDRS)

New Zealand International Doctoral Research Scholarships provide financial support for postgraduate students seeking doctoral degrees by research in New Zealand universities. Up to ten scholarships are awarded annually. These scholarships are funded by the New Zealand Government and administered by the Education New Zealand Trust.

Commonwealth Scholarships

These are offered to students from other parts of the Commonwealth under the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan. The scholarships aim to provide opportunities for students to pursue advanced courses or undertake research at a university in New Zealand. Candidates are required to be Commonwealth citizens or British protected persons and must have graduated from an institution in their own country.
