The Wellington Institute of Technology, or WelTec is a public New Zealand polytechnic based in Petone, Lower Hutt. It was formed by an amalgamation between the Central Institute of Technology and the Hutt Valley Polytechnic in 2001. Hutt Valley Polytechnic was established in 1904. It is a leading provider of certificates, diplomas and graduate diplomas in around 140 courses in disciplines ranging from hospitality, business, information technology, visual arts, counselling, engineering and construction. With over 11,000 students enrolled on various programmes, WelTec offers a wonderful learning experience to its students. Undergraduate qualifications If you want to study towards a Bachelor Degree (excluding teaching degrees), Certificate of Proficiency, Undergraduate Certificate or Diploma, or Graduate Certificate or Diploma you must have one of the following: • IELTS Academic with an average score of 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in reading, writing, listening and speaking Postgraduate qualifications If you want to study towards a postgraduate qualification, eg a Postgraduate Diploma, Masters, or PhD you must have one of the following: • IELTS Academic with an average score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in reading, writing, listening and speaking
